After many hours of deliberation, many messages and phone calls, and even some sleepless nights, we have decided to maintain the original “200TW of any brand” tire rule for the 2019 KOTM Invitational. This means the Kumho Ecsta V720 ACR will be permitted. Since KOTM is intended to be an “outlaw” show with a loose rule set we pondered how to balance the field without excluding either group. For the past 50 years, UMIMP, (formerly CNB Bank Raceway Park and the fastest short track in the state), saw domination from some, fights from others, tire wars (Hoosier vs Good Year) and even a select few bounties on dominant cars and drivers. Our solution for the 2019 KOTM is a throwback to those good ol’ days. We have placed a $2000 bounty on the Kumho ACR tire. If the overall winner is on another brand or model, they will receive a $2000 bonus to make the big check even bigger. $12000! If your car is light, fast, sophisticated, AWD, tube chassis, twin turbo, computerized, carbon fibered or piloted by a brilliant wheel-man (or woman) you may have what it takes to tack on that extra $2k and take down this controversial competitor. We feel this was the best way to honor the original 200TW rule and throw in another interesting twist. After the KOTM is crowned, we’ll head back to debrief and begin the 2020 tire and rules planning. Keep in mind, the KOTM will still feature two full days of autocross with the best racers and friends in the country.
