Move your rear shocks inboard to clear wider tires on your 1st Gen F-Body. Features adjustable frame mounts and 5.5 inches of track width adjustment—built 100% in the USA.
Maximize the wheel well space on your 1967–1969 F-Body with the UMI 273130 Rear Shock Relocation Kit. Designed to move the rear shock mounting points inboard, this kit creates the critical clearance needed to run wider rear tire packages. Crafted from high-strength 1.25-inch OD .120-wall DOM tubing and laser-cut steel plates, the system features a robust double-shear lower mount and smooth-operating Delrin bushings. Every component is MIG welded in precision jigs to guarantee dimensional accuracy and finished in a durable powder coat to withstand harsh road and track conditions.
Engineered for a precise fit, the kit features an adjustable overall mounting length to account for natural variances in 1st Gen F-Body unibody frames. With 5.5 inches of upper mount adjustability, you can easily clear a variety of custom exhaust configurations. The system supports both stud-mount and eye-end shock absorbers, giving you total flexibility over your damping setup. Manufactured 100% in the USA, this complete kit includes all necessary Grade 8 hardware.
Overview & Difficulty: Advanced DIY install requiring basic hand tools, drill, measuring tools, and a jack; 4-6 hours. Involves supporting the rear end, removing factory shocks and U-bolts, and installing the new inboard mounts. Drilling through the subframe is required for the upper mount bracket. Torque U-bolts to 45 ft/lbs, upper brackets to 22 ft/lbs, center tube bolts to 37 ft/lbs, and double-shear shock bolts to 50 ft/lbs. Exhaust modifications may be required. Stock length shocks will not work; specific aftermarket shocks are required.
The UMI 273130 relocation kit is the perfect solution for 1st Gen F-Body owners looking to run wider rear tires without extensive custom fabrication. By moving the shocks inboard and offering massive adjustability, this kit solves clearance issues with both tires and exhaust, while strengthening the shock mounts for aggressive driving.
