UMI Performance, Inc. is searching for a Product Engineering Technician to assist our engineering team in the development of world class muscle car suspension systems. The ideal candidate will:

  • Have strong design and manufacturing engineering skills.
  • Have the ability to coordinate projects as directed by the engineering manager.
  • Have the ability to create bills of materials and match them to the appropriate drawings.
  • Have the ability to write, or assist in writing, product instructions.
  • Work with other departments to bring products to market.
  • Have basic Autodesk Inventor skills or ability to use other modeling software and have the ability to quickly learn Inventor.
  • Have the desire to work in a fast paced team environment with a passion for bringing exciting products to market.
  • Automotive and suspension design experience a plus.
  • Be comfortable with technology and interested in learning new skills.
  • Have the desire to work in a fast paced, ever changing environment that rewards creativity and initiative.

  • Work with fabricators and weld shop to bring designs to market

Job description

UMI Performance is seeking a qualified individual to assist in research and development of high performance vehicle suspension. The ideal candidate is a competent auto mechanic with an eye for detail. Meticulous record keeping with regards to part numbers, heights, distances and part relationships is required. The job includes disassembly of stock vehicles and then reassembly with UMI components, often multiple times until the component is ready for public release. Racing experience or car hobby experience is a plus.

Daily tasks include:

  • Removal, installation and documentation of factory components.
  • Removal, installation and documentation of UMI components.
  • Working with the engineering department to test fit UMI prototype components.
  • Measurement of installed components. Appearance, ride height, wheelbase, alignment, etc.
  • Note taking during installation to assistant engineering and marketing with work instructions.
  • Frequent communication with the marketing department to document assembly.
  • Working with the marketing team to set up shots for YouTube series.
  • Assisting UMI car chief with race car preparation.

Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Auto shop environment.
  • 7am – 3:30pm
  • Ability to keep projects moving with minimal supervision.

UMI Performance, Inc. is searching for a Fabrication Specialist to work with our engineering team in the development of world class muscle car suspension systems. The ideal candidate will:

  • Have the ability to build structural components in a fabrication shop environment.
  • Have strong design and manufacturing engineering skills.
  • Have the ability to create bills of materials and match them to the appropriate drawings.
  • Have the ability to write, or assist in writing, product instructions.
  • Have the desire to work in a fast paced team environment with a passion for bringing exciting products to market.
  • Be comfortable with technology and interested in learning new skills.
Responsibilities
  • Build automotive suspension components in a fab shop environment.
  • Work hands-on with teammates to develop new product designs which fit UMI standards of appearance and performance.
  • Gather and organize pre- and post test fit data from the platform.
  • Assist senior engineer(s) with drawings and bills of materials.
  • Work with the machine shop, weld shop and senior engineers to bring designs to market.
  • Work as a technical liaison with the marketing department to release new products.
Requirements
  • Metal fabrication experience.
  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience.
  • or some combination of the above.
